The 2024 Scholarship Program is Open! SAME Sacramento Post has awarded 418 scholarships totaling $560,450 since 2008. The Sacramento Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) offers two great opportunities for students annually:

  • Scholarships: Annual awards to high school seniors and college students who are pursuing an engineering or related technical degree.

  • Camps: Nominates and helps offset participants’ costs to attend a SAME Engineering and Construction Camp: Army Camp in Vicksburg, MS, Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO, Navy Camp in Port Hueneme, CA, Navy Camp in Jacksonville, FL, or the U.S. Marine Corps Camp in Camp Lejeune, NC.

The Sacramento Post awards scholarships annually to high school and college students who are studying engineering or related technical disciplines to continue their education in college. The Sacramento Post also awards deserving high school students scholarships to attend an SAME sponsored Engineering & Construction Camps. The camps are generally one week over the summer at Department of Defense Installations all over the country. Each camp has a unique curriculum that generally features hands-on activities conducted in a competitive environment that promote teamwork, leadership, project management, and problem solving.

Applicants for both Scholarship Programs must attend (or have attended for college students) local area high schools, located in Sacramento, Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sutter, Yolo, Solano, or San Joaquin Counties.

Engineering & Construction Camp applicants generally need to be at least 15 years old at the start of the camp and have completed their freshman year before departing for camp. Please refer to specific requirements for each Engineering & Construction camp.

2024 Summer Engineering and Construction Camp Scholarship

Application for the 2024 camp season is deadline is March 15, 2024.

Note: Camps are SAME National sponsored programs and the selection process to attend camps is competitive. The application process is administered through the SAME National website. Applicants are asked to select a SAME Post for scholarship consideration. Please select “Sacramento Post” to be considered for a Sacramento Post Engineering and Construction Camp Scholarship to cover expenses to attend the camp. Applicants will be reviewed/considered by the Sacramento Post Scholarship Committee.
