Tell us about your company history.
Odin was founded in late-2018 by a team of industry leaders who felt clients and the community could be
better served with innovative and sustainable approaches to complex projects. Odin’s founders and principals are recognized leaders in environmental, geotechnical, and heavy civil construction. Our leaders include nationally recognized experts in cutoff (containment) wall construction, in-situ stabilization/solidification (ISS), impoundment and landfill closures, sediment removal and treatment, as well as emergency and disaster recovery management. Odin’s principals and senior managers have each spent more than 25 years performing at a high level on thousands of complex, multifaceted projects, developing a reputation for exceptional service and results.

Partnerships with organizations like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, public and private utilities, water management and flood control agencies, and private entities have resulted in the protection of communities and remediation of natural environments nationwide.

Odin has a nationwide reach, with offices in California, Utah, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, and Georgia.

We’re honored to work with the USACE for the Sacramento River East Levee (SREL) Contract 4 project, Folsom Dam Raising Dikes 1-6 project, Marysville Ring Levee Phase 2B project, and the Dry Creek Ecosystem Restoration Phase II project.

When did you join SAME? Why?
Synectics joined SAME over 10 years ago to network with other federal environmental contractors, and to support an organization doing great work for its members and the nation.
Tell us about your company history.
Synectics was founded in 1993 with the mission of creating a more effective and efficient approach to environmental data management. Synectics pioneered the use of the internet in the 90s offering proprietary EDMS and ADR tools online with no software or downloads to upkeep. Our team is staffed with experienced chemists and environmental scientists who support our clients on some of the most complex projects in the DoD.
Business Specialty or focus that people need to know about?
Synectics is the industry leader in environmental data management. Our services include EDMS, data validation, deliverables support such as ERPIMS and other repository submissions, environmental consultation.
In which industry sectors do you work?
Synectics works in the environmental and IT sectors under NAICS 541620 and 541690 mostly. Our primary clientele is with the DoD including USACE, AFCEC/Air Force, Navy, and Army projects. We do work with state and local governments, and private sector as well.
Global or national reach? How far?
The bulk of our work is in CONUS, however are equipped to work OCONUS (and have several ongoing OCONUS projects) as our services are primarily web-based.

Synectics has approximately 40 employees and is a HUBZone certified small business.
Current Projects you'd like to highlight?
We are proud to support USACE as the data management systems behind the FUDS program (FUDSChem.com) and the FUSRAP program (FUSRAP-edms.com). We have also been working extensively with PFAS RI projects supporting a number of contractors.

When did you join SAME? Why?
We joined SAME in 2017 to expand our services to the federal government.
What does membership mean to you/the company?
Joining SAME gave us an opportunity to expand our network and build relationships with partners from various industries, and prospective clients..
Company history?
Z Squared Construction was founded in 2006 by Lourdes “Malou’ Malaekeh. Growing up, Malou’s father owned a construction company. Her love for building was apparent at an early age. She knew someday that construction would be a huge part of her adult life. Z Squared was founded with Malou’s desire to create a company that is built on a foundation of safety, workmanship, professionalism, and excellent client service. Z Squared’s mission is to develop longstanding, mutually beneficial relationships with the clients they serve. As a family-owned business, Z Squared’s name was chosen based on the future success and longevity of the company being a legacy for Malou’s two sons, Zachary and Zane.

We are a Small Disadvantaged Woman-Owned, 8(a), commercial general construction company that focuses on vertical construction with project related horizontal capabilities. Our core competencies include: Design-Build, Industrial, Recreational, Renovation, Alterations, Maintenance, Tenant Improvements and Ground-up.

We provide construction services to local municipalities, state, school districts, various federal government entities, and private entities.
Global or national reach? How far?
Our office is based in El Dorado Hills, California. Our primary service area has been Northern California; however, we have completed projects as far as Southern California. Our future goal would be to expand our services across Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Colorado.

We employ a total staff of 25 full-time and 5 part-time professionals.
Current Projects?
MOTCO Wash Rack Pavement Repair (USACE Sacramento District), CHP Academy Mechanical Upgrade (DGS), Northern Distribution Center (NDC) Warehouse Improvement Remodel (California State Lottery), and DCA Energy Upgrades (DGS).
JVs or teaming arrangements you’d like to highlight?
We have not had any JVs or teaming opportunities but we are always open, should an opportunity arise.
Recent awards you’d like to share?
With our excellent safety record, we have been Issued an OSHA Nat'l Safety Stand-Down certificate.

When did you join SAME? Why?
We joined SAME in 2019 when we hired one of the Sacramento Post’s elected Directors. She introduced us to SAME and the extensive opportunities for networking and building partnerships in the AEC industry.
Company history or background?
Our founding partners have similar, yet complementary backgrounds, all stemming from large staffing companies. In 2018, they imagined a unique and creative way of staffing that was rooted in partnership, innovation and transparency. These core values lead them to open a new company, one focused solely on supporting and partnering with clients in the AEC industry.
In which industry sectors do you work?
We work in both the public and private sectors, focusing exclusively on staffing and recruiting for Construction, Engineering, Environmental, Energy, and Emergency Management firms.
Global or national reach? How far?
We partner with clients across the United States. While we don’t focus on international work, we’ve gotten creative and supported a few clients with positions outside the US.

We have 20 internal employees between our two offices in California and Texas, and over 150 consultants currently on contract.
Current Projects?
Recently we’ve supported a few of our emergency management and disaster recovery partners, helping them quickly ramp up for recovery and clean-up work following the devastation of Hurricane Ian in Florida and the rampant wildfire fires in New Mexico.
Business Specialty or focus that people need to know about? Certis strives to build long-term partnerships and we pride ourselves on being transparent, nimble, and unique in the AEC staffing industry.
JVs or teaming arrangements you’d like to highlight?
Certis partners with a myriad of clients, both large and small, including many that are sustaining members of SAME across the country. Certis is always looking to team with new companies to support their hiring endeavors and ultimately be an extension of their internal team.
What does membership mean to you/the company? Membership means partnership to Certis. We’re proud to be active members that contribute time and resources to the society, and we do so along other members and other businesses because we’re all working together, not just to grow our businesses, but to better our futures and to ensure the success of future generations.

When did you join SAME? Why?
We joined in 2003 because we perform quite a bit of field sampling work as a subcontractor at Sacramento area DOD sites and bases and the Sacramento SAME chapter looked very active.
Global or national reach? How far?
Offices located in Washington, California, and Arizona support work throughout the West Coast and inland states with our latest office in Florida supporting work along the East Coast.

We currently perform groundwater sampling and related field support services at over 20 active and closed Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine bases for 10 different client consultants.
What does Blaine Tech specialize in?
Performing groundwater sampling at large, complex, and challenging sites has always been our specialty.
JVs or teaming arrangements you’d like to highlight?
We’ve been called “The Swiss of the Environmental Industry” because we purposely avoid aligning ourselves with any one consultant client.
What does membership mean to you/the company?
It’s important to us to support our clients and our clients’ clients whenever we can. Being able to attend, exhibit and participate in SAME conferences, meetings, and golf tournaments have been a great way for us to gain exposure while giving something back to a great organization.
